About Us - Dafydd & Sian Roberts
In 1986, after a four-year fell running career which included representing Wales in international competition, we joined forces with our friend Sion Parri to set up Beics Betws, a mountain bike hire company in Betws-y-Coed, north Wales (set in the beautiful Gwydir Forest - now home to the Marin Mtb Trail).
The natural progression was to start racing mountain bikes and we were both lucky enough to enjoy many years of racing. Sian went on to race for Team GB from 1991-1995 at both cross-country and downhill before retiring from international competition.
When the Forestry Commission approached us in 1992 to set up another hire centre in the Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park, we parted company with Sion and set up Beics Coed-y-Brenin, starting the development of Coed-y-Brenin into the internationally renowned mountain biking centre it now is.
In 2005 we left Coed-y-Brenin to pursue other interests and in late 2009 bought the old school in the village of Bronaber. Building work started in October 2010 and, three and a half years later, we finally finished our very own 'grand design'!
We are now looking forward to having time to ride our bikes again!
